The event drew not only association members but also friends, well-wishers, and other supporters of the association.
The picnic featured an impressive spread of local delicacies, alongside a variety of barbecue delights that satisfied all tastes. Attendees enjoyed a day filled with fun activities, including games for children and dynamic displays of traditional and contemporary dance steps by participants, all set to an array of enchanting musical tunes.
In his address, the President of the Igbo Development Association of BC expressed his appreciation to everyone present, emphasizing the importance of community collaboration and celebration within the complex ethnic municipality of Surrey. He expressed appreciation to the city officials for granting us permission to use the park.
On the same premise, the President of the Nigeria-Canada Association in BC echoed his sentiments, encouraging attendees to embrace every opportunity to connect and celebrate together.
The event was a perfect summer outing, offering a chance for adults and children alike to relax, mingle, network, and revel in the unique cultural heritage of the Igbo people. The picnic is a miniature of what the association has in mind for our upcoming August 31, 2024 Igbo Day Celebration.
